Our Phased Process for Designing your Website:
- Information Architecture
The first phase of our creative process is to rationalize the major interfaces of your website through the creation of "Use Cases". Each "Use Case" describes the intended user interaction and navigation outcome. Basically, we're creating a story for where we want the users of your website to go, and how we want them to get there.
Once the Use Cases have been defined, we'll present them to the creative developer assigned to your project. Using the Use Cases, they will begin "wireframing" the defined interfaces of your website. Wireframing, in layman's terms, is the "blueprinting" or basic "outline" design of your site. As the wireframes are completed, they will be presented to you for review and approval.
- Design Composition
Once you've approved all wireframes, our team will begin the iterative process of designing your website. Through this round of development, we will build the primary website template and home page. During this process, a series of review meetings will help to assure that our team is headed in the right direction with your design. This process usually lasts 1-2 weeks based on the level of intricacy and overall scope of the project. Upon approval of the design compositions, we will deploy your website into a temporary test environment and the Template and Homepage will be transferred to the Development Team for integration into your site.
After the Template and Homepage have been sent to the Development Team, the Creative Team will begin work on the website buttons and any related landing page, category page, or product page templates. The same process will be utilized in the design and approval of these assets.
- Template / Design Integration
At this point in the project, our development team will begin a process call "slicing". Basically, they will take the design provided by the Creative Team, and break it down into usable HTML and CSS web code. Upon the completion of the HTML and CSS code development, our team will integrate it into your site.
Lastly, all buttons, remaining graphics, and templates will be integrated to complete the aesthetic of the site. After your site goes through testing by our team internally, it will be presented to you for final approval. Once you approve the design, we will move it over to our E-commerce Team for Taxonomy development and integration of product and category segmentation.
